Howard Fremeth

Director, Communications – Business Council of Canada

Howard works with the Council’s team to develop and execute communication strategies, manage its social and digital media presence, lead strategies to enhance member activities, and leverage new channels to reach key audiences.  

Prior to joining the Council, Howard was the Director of Media Relations and Content Strategy with NATIONAL Public Relations where he led accounts for a variety of clients in different sectors from defence to agriculture and museums to foreign embassies. From 2011 to 2016, Howard was the Director of Communications at the Embassy of Israel in Canada where he oversaw all media and public diplomacy activities during a period of growth in bilateral ties.  

Howard holds a PhD in Communications from Carleton University where he still serves as an Adjunct Professor and teaches courses in professional communications and digital diplomacy. He is also a Board Member of the Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom and a recipient of the Freiman Family Young Leadership Award – recognizing someone under 40 for exceptional service to Ottawa’s Jewish community.
