Dear Friends,

Budgets are all about making choices. Whether it’s a monthly household spending plan, a company forecast, or a federal document, a budget should offer a realistic roadmap for future spending and saving.

Yesterday’s federal budget set out some important spending priorities for the government – including measures to make life more affordable and investments in Canada’s clean energy transition. But it also offered some fiscal prudence.

That’s important, because – as we have learned over the past few years – you can’t predict the next crisis. Just as a good household budget saves money for unexpected expenses, so too must a federal plan.
