The importance of understanding Biden’s Buy American update

Trevor Kennedy points out how protectionism contradicts positive developments in the Canada-United States bilateral relationship. He shares this perspective with Politico in a story about President Biden’s Buy American proposal.

“It’s concerning – we need to learn more about what today’s announcement would actually mean, in practice. In a sense, it’s going in the wrong direction, whereas some other areas of the bilateral relationship we think are going in the right direction. Hopefully, we get all of those things aligned at some point.”
