Statement on TMX Cabinet approval

The Business Council of Canada welcomes today’s decision by the federal government to approve the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline, a critical piece of Canada’s energy infrastructure. The Trans Mountain project will help to ensure that Canadians receive full and fair value for our resources in international markets. It will create many thousands of well-paid jobs and, when completed, will generate a steady stream of tax revenue for all three levels of government, supporting vital public services such as health and education. Through community partnerships and potential equity positions, the Trans Mountain expansion project will expand opportunities for Indigenous communities to take control of their economic destiny and improve their quality of life.
