Statement on new income support for workers

Today’s announcement of $37-billion in new income support for workers affected by the pandemic underscores the need for a stronger focus on job creation and economic growth. The best income–support program is a job. We stand ready to work with the federal government in shaping an economic strategy that will build confidence, create good jobs and fuel business investment.  Help for those in need is important – but so too is a plan to preserve Canada’s fiscal capacity for uncertain times ahead.
