Statement on First Ministers’ meeting

Ottawa, ON March 21st, 2025 – For decades, the Business Council of Canada has urged federal, provincial and territorial leaders to work together to make our country more productive and competitive.

We have called for an end to interprovincial trade barriers, improved trade-enabling infrastructure, prioritization of projects in the national interest, and a permitting and regulatory regime that recognizes “one project, one approval.”

We are encouraged that Canada’s First Ministers have made much-needed progress on these files. We must act with haste to ensure Canada remains strong, resilient and sovereign.

As Canadians prepare for a possible federal election, we hope our political leaders will rise to meet the moment by uniting us, inspiring us and proposing sound policy aimed at strengthening the Canadian economy for the long-term.
