Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Action Plan an important step toward meeting climate goals
The federal government’s new SMR action plan represents a welcome step toward creating a competitive advantage in this emerging technology. By leveraging our world-class uranium deposits and existing nuclear and engineering expertise, Canadians have an opportunity to develop low-emissions energy innovations that will benefit the world.
Together with the hydrogen strategy released earlier this week, the SMR action plan underscores the critical need to develop all of Canada’s low-emissions energy resources. Innovative technologies such as hydrogen fuel and small modular reactors will help Canadians meet ambitious climate goals, while supplying clean electricity to communities across the country.
