Resolving softwood lumber dispute in the best interests of both countries
Canada’s leading employers welcome the federal government’s willingness to resolve the longstanding softwood lumber dispute with the United States and restore predictable cross-border trade by way of a negotiated agreement. Resolving this trade irritant is decidedly in the best interests of both our countries. We strongly encourage the Canadian government to take the initiative in negotiations, bring the parties back to the table and secure a settlement to safeguard and strengthen North American economic security.
