Peter Bentley exemplified what it means to be a business leader who cares deeply about his employees, community, province and country.

As the CEO of Canfor, Peter was a long-standing member and valued contributor to our Board of Directors. He helped position Canada’s forestry industry as a reliable and sustainable source for forest products.

From his tenure as chancellor of the University of Northern British Columbia to his passion for sports and commitment as a philanthropist, his positive impact on his home city and province will be felt for generations to come.

Above all else, he was a true patriot. After fleeing the Nazi occupation of Austria, he was always motivated to give back to the country that welcomed his family by improving life for his fellow citizens.

On behalf of the Business Council of Canada’s team and members, I offer our deepest condolences to his wife Sheila and his family.
