More we spend on debt servicing, the less we have for Canada’s priorities

Robert Asselin joins host Catherine Cullen and Kevin Page, former Parliamentary Budget Officer, on CBC Radio’s The House to discuss the federal government’s fiscal track and the recent Fall Economic Statement.

“What it means for Canadians is the dollars we spend on debt servicing, we don’t spend on their priorities: on healthcare, on education, on transfers to provinces, on defence, on international aid. This is what constrains the government. The more we have to spend on debt servicing, the less we have to spend on other priorities.
