Louise Blais joins CTV Powerplay to discuss the government’s new Indo-Pacific strategy. She welcomes the policy but also calls for Canada to better leverage its own resources to advance its economic interests in this increasingly important region.

“What we have to think about is what are we going to do as a country to secure our own energy sources. And how are we going to use the strength that we have in certain sectors that have been underdeveloped like LNG, for example, to use as leverage in our relationship with our allies. Let’s face it, it’s now all about economic security, it’s all about energy security and Canada has a role to play and our partners are expecting us to play that role.”
