Robert Asselin says Canada needs to closely monitor industrial policy developments in the United States and respond with our own plan to emphasize key priority areas including agricultural technology, energy and biotechnology. He shares this perspective in a CBC story about he U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, which is legislation making its way through Congress that is aimed at preparing the U.S. for a long-term era of competition with China.

“To me, [this] just shows the U.S. versus China is redefining economic competitiveness, and here we are in Canada, thinking it’s business as usual. We’re still playing in the margins. [Let’s] get real on industrial policy.”
