Easing of travel restrictions is good for the economy and provides hope for Canadians
We are encouraged by the federal government’s announcement of further steps toward allowing international travelers to enter Canada – an approach that recognizes the importance of full vaccination.
The establishment of clear guidelines and dates will instill confidence and enable individuals and businesses to make plans. It will also provide much-needed hope for Canada’s hard-hit travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
We will be watching closely to see how these rules are implemented. There should be no unnecessary hurdles or wait-times at the border for travelers who satisfy all requirements, including being fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine.
Close to 19 million people in Canada have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, allowing us to open our doors to fully vaccinated visitors. This will be good for our economy and will provide hope for Canadians.
