Canada and the United Kingdom share close people-to-people and business ties.  A transitional trade agreement between our two countries will ensure the economic relationship with Canada’s third largest export market will continue without disruption.

We look forward to reviewing the details of this agreement.  In the future, we believe there is an opportunity to enhance our bilateral trade and investment ties even further with a comprehensive and ambitious free trade deal.

As highlighted in our recent report, “Powering A Strong Recovery: An Economic Growth Plan For Canada,” the rise of protectionism has cast a shadow of uncertainty over the multilateral rules-based trading system so we need to work closely with our allies and like-minded countries to safeguard what has been the foundation of global economic growth.
