Canadian business leaders welcome new economic partnership for the Americas

Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada, issued the following statement from Los Angeles:

Today at the opening of the Summit of the Americas, U.S. President Joe Biden is announcing the launch of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, with the goal of driving economic recovery and growth in the Western Hemisphere.

We welcome this initiative and stand ready to work with the Government of Canada in ensuring the Partnership’s success.

In an increasingly volatile world in which supply chains are strained, protectionism is rising, and democracy is under threat, it is critical that our country has a seat at the table in new multilateral initiatives that will directly impact Canadians and Canada’s economic future.

Close collaboration with our friends and vital trading partners is in our national interest, and is an essential part of building a better and more sustainable future for all.
