Budget 2024

Tax and spend fiscal plan will inhibit growth

Robert Asselin points to the positive short-term economic outlook as a reminder that Budget 2021 should emphasize long-term growth. His comments were featured in a story by The Canadian Press about March’s StatsCan Labour Force Survey.

“The government needs to rethink how much to spend from a promised $70 billion to $100 billion in stimulus over three years, and what to spend it on in light of the improved labour market and economy. If you don’t build capacity then you really aren’t solving much.”
