Jean de Grandpré was a pioneer, a builder and a visionary. As a founding member of the Business Council of Canada (then called the Business Council on National Issues), he worked closely with other business leaders to strengthen Canada’s economy, its social fabric, and its democratic institutions.

The long-time CEO of Bell Canada helped transform the company into Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), a globally recognized telecommunications provider.

His leadership, mentorship and philanthropy were widely recognized. When then-Governor General Jeanne Sauvé named him a Companion of the Order of Canada in 1987, she paid tribute to his contributions “through a vast range of professional, educational and community activities.”

We offer condolences to Jean de Grandpré’s family, friends and colleagues.
