Trevor Neiman underscores the need for a national security strategy to effectively combat growing threats facing Canadian businesses, the government and citizens. His perspective was shared in a multiple news stories about the Business Council of Canada’s recent report, National Security is Economic Security.

“It’s important for Canadians to recognize that all sectors of the Canadian economy are the subject of attacks from state-sponsored actors. This includes strategically important businesses and sectors of the Canadian economy, and these attacks have real-world implications for Canadians’ economic safety, security and prosperity.”

“Right now, the government’s approach has been kind of ad hoc and reactive. The government hasn’t been doing a lot of long-term proactive planning for the future, and that’s important because we are dealing with state-sponsored actors that think well beyond the length of an average Canadian political cycle.”
