Canada needs a DARPA-style federal innovation agency
In a story by The Logic, a magazine focused on the innovation economy, Goldy Hyder’s pre-budget letter to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is cited while Robert Asselin shares his perspective on why Canada needs to take a mission-driven approach to innovation policy that sets clear national goals with the creation of an agency similar to the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
“[DARPA puts] industry and academics together on very strict timelines. They come up with a clear outcome, and then they move on to something else.”
Robert Asselin, Senior Vice President, Policy, Business Council of Canada
