Statement on the re-election of the Liberal Party of Canada
The Business Council of Canada congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada on their victory in the October 21st general election.
The people have spoken and the people are never wrong. Canadians, however, did deserve better than the campaign that just ended. While acknowledging the anxiety many Canadians feel about their economic future, the parties offered little in the way of a coherent plan for economic growth and a better quality of life for all citizens.
We believe people seek public office with the best of intentions, and we thank all candidates for their willingness to participate in the democratic process. To those parliamentarians who failed to win re-election, thank you for your service to Canadians.
We stand ready to work with the government and all parties in shaping a policy agenda that will promote economic growth in all regions of the country and offer all citizens hope for a better future.
