Business leaders welcome new North American trade deal
The new North American trade agreement will strengthen Canada’s economy and ensure a better future for millions of middle-class workers and families, business leaders across the country said today.
“This afternoon’s signing of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) reinforces the vital economic ties between our three countries,” said Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada.
“We look forward to reviewing the text in detail, but after years of uncertainty it appears a modernized and enhanced North American trade agreement is finally ready to go before Parliament. We congratulate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Canada’s team of exceptionally skilled trade negotiators.”
“Trade with the United States and Mexico supports thousands of businesses and millions of high-value jobs in communities across Canada. We call on MPs from all parties to make the ratification and implementation of this agreement a top priority.”
