Statement by Goldy Hyder on the passing the Honourable Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson embodied what it means to be Canadian.

He was kindhearted, intelligent, and dedicated to making this country a better place. While he battled a lot in his life, he always put the interests of the greater good before his own.

From modernizing our tax system to leading the way on free trade with our North American neighbours, he helped build a thriving country that we know today. But it was his work as an advocate for mental health and wellness that will be felt by Canadians for many years to come.

I had the privilege of interacting with Michael in several of his capacities and have always been inspired by the personal example he set. On behalf of the Business Council of Canada’s team and members, I offer our deepest condolences to Michael’s wife Margie and family. May this public outpouring of support and good wishes be a pillar of support at this difficult time.
