DST strains Canada-U.S relationship
John Dickerman believes that the Trump administration will continue the previous administration’s tough stance on DST with the potential of escalation and even the cause of more tension between Canada and the United States. He shares his perspective with CBC news in an article about the upcoming deadline for the U.S. Trade Representative to respond to Canada’s DST.
“The first Trump administration … was very clear on digital services taxes. They believed that digital services taxes were a very clear indication that a country was specifically targeting the U.S. and targeting U.S. companies. It will be a ‘with us and against us’ scenario.”
