The Business Council of Canada (BCC) is pleased to welcome former Canadian ambassador and deputy head of mission Shauna Hemingway as senior special advisor. Ms. Hemingway will advise the BCC on issues related to the Canada’s interests in Mexico as well as Canada’s relationship with other trade and investment partners throughout the Americas.

Ms. Hemingway served as Deputy Head of Mission, Minister-Counsellor (political affairs), and Chargée d’affaires at the Embassy of Canada in Mexico City from 2020 to 2024 and earlier served as Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of Canada in Mexico as well as a Trade Commissioner with the Mexico Division. Prior to her most recent posting in Mexico, she was Canada’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

“Mexico is becoming an increasingly critical economic partner to Canada,” said Goldy Hyder, President & CEO of the BCC. “As it welcomes a new president and as we approach the review of the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement, it is essential that Canadian businesses have an informed appreciation for what is happening there. Shauna Hemingway has unique experience and unrivaled expertise in Mexico, and we are delighted to have the benefit of her intelligent and insightful counsel.”
