Developing Canada’s core defensive capabilities

Trevor Neiman urges the Canadian government to take the right measures and lay out a clear plan to reach its NATO defence spending goals to strengthen its credibility and enhance vital trade relationships. He shares his perspective in an article by The Hill Times about the federal government’s announcement of that it expects to reach its spending target by 2032.

“Canada’s national security requires that we develop and maintain really core defensive capabilities onshore. We believe that the government needs to identify core defensive capabilities that we, as a nation, need domestically onshore to meet our major national security requirements and to strengthen our operational independence.”
