Unilateral Digital Service Tax risks retaliatory action from the United States

Canada’s leading employers are extremely concerned that the federal government has decided to enact a digital services tax (DST) outside of the OECD global tax framework.

As we have warned the government repeatedly, this unilateral move puts our country at risk of retaliatory trade action from the United States, our most important trading partner.

We urge the government to reconsider this decision and let the multilateral tax reform process do its work.
