Business Council of Canada expands its global footprint
Ottawa, May 6, 2024 – The Business Council of Canada (BCC) is increasing its international footprint by opening a new Indo-Pacific office and expanding its Ottawa policy bench strength in international trade.
Beginning in September, Trevor Kennedy, Vice President Indo-Pacific, will operate out of a new BCC office in Tokyo, Japan, acting as a key representative of Canadian business interests in the dynamic Indo-Pacific market. Trevor will build on his strong and growing ties with business and government leaders in the region.
“Canadian business leaders are increasingly looking westward for growth opportunities, and we benefit from a continuous and permanent presence in the Indo-Pacific,” says Goldy Hyder, BCC president and CEO. “Opening this new office is a testament to Trevor Kennedy’s leadership in raising Canada’s profile in the region and I am confident that we will further strengthen important people-to-people ties between our business communities.”
The Tokyo post represents the second dedicated international office for the BCC. In 2023 the Council welcomed John Dickerman as its Vice President, United States, based in Washington D.C. In addition, the BCC has a network of special advisors including Brussels-based Mark Camilleri.
In Ottawa, the BCC is pleased to announce that Daniela Lombardo has joined the Council as Trade Policy Analyst. Daniela brings a wealth of knowledge on international trade, foreign affairs, sustainability and economic development. Her research will focus on Canadian trade, especially with the United States and Mexico.
“As a trading nation, it is essential that Canada nurtures and expands its international relationships,” Hyder says. “Daniela will help us ensure Canadian businesses have the knowledge and tools they need to compete with the best in the world.”
