Ensuring that Canada’s energy transition is inclusive
Heather Chalmers underscores the importance of creating economic opportunities for Indigenous peoples in Canada’s transition to a more sustainable economy. She shares this perspective following the announcement by First Nations Power Authority (FNPA) and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) that they are working together on training and employment opportunities for Indigenous peoples, including the creation of 30 highly skilled field service technician roles.
“We are excited to work alongside FNPA on this important initiative because nuclear energy plays an integral role in our energy mix. Creating economic opportunities like these is an essential step towards ensuring that Canada’s energy transition is inclusive.”
