On November 28, 2017, individuals and companies around the world participated in Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to charitable giving. Cisco, a global leader in IT, marked #GivingTuesday by increasing its contributions to charities in the countries in which they operate. In Canada, that charity was Connected North.

Founded by Cisco Canada, Connected North provides students in remote Indigenous communities across Canada with interactive education and mental-wellness programming through high-definition video collaboration technology.

Connected North is led and managed by charity partner TakingITGlobal, a network of young people committed to addressing global challenges. On Giving Tuesday, Cisco pledged $1 for every retweet in Canada in support of Connected North.

Cisco Canada established Connected North in 2011 to leverage its expertise in networking and collaboration solutions to deliver education and healthcare services to 27 schools in remote communities.
