TELUS challenged Canadians with an ambitious target in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017: one million volunteer hours. Building on the success of the company’s annual TELUS Days of Giving, TELUS asked Canadians to pledge one hour of time for causes they cared about.

Volunteers pledged their time in four key areas: a greener planet, stronger communities, a healthier Canada and educating youth. Since 2000, TELUS has made $482 million in community contributions toward education, health and the environment. In that time, TELUS employees and retirees have volunteered 7.7 million hours.

“One of the hallmarks of TELUS’s award-winning culture is our team’s extraordinary commitment to giving back with our hearts and our hands. In just over a decade, we have already devoted more than one million days of volunteering to bring to life our heartfelt philosophy – we give where we live,” said Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and Chief Executive Officer.

Together with TELUS, Canadians across the country generously volunteered a million hours in 2017. See it in action by searching #MillionHours on social networking sites like Twitter or check out telus.com/millionhours.
