Lettre ouverte des chefs d’entreprise du Canada.

Les organisations et les employeurs que nous représentons se livrent au quotidien une concurrence féroce. Aujourd’hui, nous faisons front commun dans une lutte commune contre la COVID-19.

Nous exhortons tous les dirigeants du pays à tourner immédiatement leur attention sur l’objectif singulier de ralentir le rythme de transmission du coronavirus.

L’expérience internationale démontre que la distanciation sociale est la seule méthode efficace et que cela est dans l’intérêt supérieur de nos employés, de leurs familles et de nos collectivités.

Même si cela aura d’importantes répercussions sur nos entreprises à court terme, il est essentiel de résister à cette tempête. Cela accélérera le rétablissement.

Les gouvernements partout au pays ont agi; cependant, ces mesures ne seront efficaces qui si tous les employeurs se lèvent et font leur part afin de protéger la santé et le bien-être de la nation.

Les soussignés ont pris des mesures importantes et exhortent vos organisations à se joindre à nous :

• Exhortez vos employés à cesser tous les déplacements non essentiels, que ce soient pour des raisons personnelles ou commerciales. Les déplacements exposent les gens à l’infection, augmentent le risque pour leurs contacts personnels et professionnels.
• Permettez à vos employés d’exercer la distanciation sociale. Facilitez le télétravail pour toutes les fonctions non essentielles à l’entreprise. Travaillez en collaboration avec le gouvernement, au besoin, pour assurer des prestations de maladie pour les travailleurs. Annulez tous les rassemblements ou événements en personne. Assurez-vous que des services en santé mentale sont en place pour appuyer les personnes dans le besoin pendant une période d’isolement social.
• Maintenez les services essentiels pour les Canadiens. En collaboration avec le gouvernement, élaborez des lignes directrices claires afin de protéger la santé des employés qui fournissent des services essentiels au public.
• Comprenez que vos employés se tournent vers vous pour assurer le leadership et être une source d’information fiable dans les périodes de turbulence. Partagez les conseils dignes de confiance des organismes de santé publique et communiquez d’une façon uniforme et claire avec vos employés. Récapitulez les dernières lignes directrices et montrez‑leur ce que vous faites à l’appui de celles‑ci.
